The role of physics in engineering education is not a static one. It must respond and evolve with the momentous changes in both engineering and physics which are occurring continually.
The department of Physics takes pride in having ten experienced faculty with educational and research background from premier institutes. Among the faculty, three are doctorates and three more are perusing their Ph.D. The areas of research interest lies in ceramics, condensed matter physics, magnetic materials, material science, luminescence & biophysics. The thrust in research is been credited with more than 50 publications in Scopus Indexed, International and National Journals.
In view of the rapid development of knowledge and the technological changes, the department of physics has strengthened itself by integrating with the engineering departments for a productive knowledge base. The department of physics conducts courses such as Engineering Physics, Applied physics, Engineering Physics Lab & Applied Physics Lab for undergraduate programs – Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) for CE, CSE, ECE, EEE, IT & ME branches.
To be in tune with the latest development in Science and Technology, the department encourages faculty members to attend and also present their research papers in various conferences. The department has conducted National conferences and FDPs on contemporary topics in science and technology. Faculty members are very much abreast with the modern tools of teaching and learning methodologies and keep enhancing their skills by participating in various MOOC s conducted by IITs.
